Katherine Johnson

Katherine Johnson was a NASA mathematician known for accuratlly charting celestial navigation using math formulas. She was part of the "Computers in Skirts"- women who crunched numbers for NASA space flights.

Katherine calculated the trajectory for Project Mercury and the Apollo 11 flight to the Moon. She also checked the compluter generated calculations to make sure they were correct for other missions.
